Glossy, exact, and bright on one side; quieter and earthbound on the other. Materials are stoneware, glaze, custom spun aluminum, and — in the wood works by Peter Souza Jr. — wood, acrylic, watercolor, and found material. All glazes are non-toxic and lead-free, high-fired to maturity. Pieces are made one at a time. One-of-a-kind works are signed and dated by the artist; studio production carries the J Schatz mark. Bird food gravity-feeds from a stoneware egg into a custom spun aluminum dish. The glossy glaze deters squirrels.
